Normany, France- Minolta x700
Normany, France - Minolta x700

I have recently been playing with an old Minolta x700 that was passed down to me from my husband’s Grandfather and I haven’t enjoyed shooting this much in a while. Each roll feels like Christmas and inspires me to slow down and enjoy what I’m shooting more.
The black and white was shot on Kodak Tmax100 while exploring Rouen and Etretat, France.
Walking around with the small 80’s designed camera vs. my large dslr was probably secretly why my love is growing for film. I’m suddenly getting more eyewinks instead of eye-rolls. Like I passed from the dark side of tourism to the cool kids club.
Rouen, France was also one of the most unique cities I have visited. Formerly one of the largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe. Notable for it’s viking feel, wooden beam architecture, Joan of Arc, and beautiful churches.
After exploring Rouen, we drove towards the coast of Normandy to the “village” of Etretat. I knew very little about it, but we booked an adorable bed and breakfast that overlooked the seaside town.
You can easily walk the distance of the city in less than 10 minutes and once you get an aerial view you realize how small Etretat really is. That doesn’t discount for it’s beauty though!
The Cliffs of Etretat are white chalk, with natural arches that inspired artists like Claude Monet to paint them on multiple trips.
So what do you think of my film scans? I will be sharing my digital captures from Normandy, France as well, but couldn’t help but share my new inspiration.
